SAPS engages Meyerton Park residents on GBVF
On 21 February, SAPS Meyerton and community stakeholders conducted a door-to-door gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) awareness campaign in Meyerton Park Sector 1.
The outreach led by Sector 1 commander, GBV Brigade and Siyabangena Patrollers visited households, distributed nearly 100 pamphlets and encouraged residents to report abuse and seek assistance.
Rngagement focused on domestic violence, alcohol and drug abuse and the responsibilities of the sector commander in addressing crime and community matters.
Road safety was also highlighted, particularly the risks pedestrians face when crossing the busy R59 road.
Organisers said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships between police and the community, promote accountability and curb violence at grassroots level.
