De Deur SAPS engages community in crucial safety meeting
A community engagement session aimed at strengthening ties between residents and law enforcement was held at Savanna City Ext 4, next to the local park, on 25 February.
Members of the Savanna City community gathered in numbers to engage directly with management from De Deur SAPS on crime-related concerns affecting the area.
The station commander, Colonel Zachariah Ranake, led the delegation, accompanied by station personnel, representatives from the Department of Community Safety, and Ward 11 Cllr Maimane.
The primary objective of the engagement was to sensitise residents about the types of crime occurring in the area and to encourage greater community involvement in crime prevention initiatives. Police management outlined current crime trends and urged residents to work closely with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities and participating in community policing structures.
Residents were also given an opportunity to raise their concerns, ask questions, and suggest possible solutions to improve safety in Savanna City. Issues such as visible policing, response times, and the importance of community cooperation were discussed.
Officials emphasised that combating crime requires a collaborative approach, highlighting that effective communication and partnership between the police and the community are critical to creating a safer environment for all.
