Savanna City Primary construction reaches 57% completion

Construction of the new Savanna City Primary School has reached 57% completion, with work progressing across multiple sections of the project as efforts continue to deliver much-needed educational infrastructure to the growing community.

According to the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development, an inspection was recently conducted by the department’s A-Team on 15 June, to assess progress on site and identify any challenges that could affect the project’s completion.

Current construction activities include roofing, brickwork, internal plastering, screeding, plumbing, electrical installations, stormwater and sewer reticulation, perimeter fencing, and attenuation pond works.

During the inspection, concerns were raised regarding the non-payment of employees by some subcontractors working on the project. The issue was highlighted as requiring urgent intervention to ensure labour stability and prevent potential disruptions to construction activities.

The department indicated that upcoming work will focus on advancing brickwork at Blocks A and I, internal plastering at Blocks B and D, roof coverings at Block B, and roof structure construction at Block EP.

The construction of the school is expected to provide quality learning facilities for learners in Savanna City and surrounding areas, helping to address the growing demand for educational infrastructure in the community.

Officials said progress will continue to be closely monitored to support the successful completion of the project and ensure that the school is delivered to the required standards.
