Three charities benefit as Walkerville marks Youth Day

Community spirit was on full display on 16 June as residents gathered at 84 on Main in Walkerville for the annual Youth Day Charity Walk in support of three local youth charities: Door 0⁰of Hope, TLC and Adonai.

Families, friends, sponsors and volunteers came together at 84 on Main for a meaningful Youth Day celebration focused on giving back and investing in the future of young people.

Midvaal Executive Mayor Peter Teixeira officially opened the event by cutting the ceremonial ribbon, marking the start of the walk and showing the Municipality’s support for initiatives that uplift the youth.

Helen Glyn said the strong turnout reflected the heart of the community.

“The overwhelming spirit of generosity and unity displayed throughout the event once again demonstrated what can be achieved when the Walkerville community comes together for a common purpose,” she said.

The event was made possible through the support of 84 on Main Shopping Centre, RE/MAX Finest Walkerville, Your Local Choice Pharmacy, Urbanwave Internet Solutions, Bene Natural Spring Water, Expol Security and Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital.

Organisers also extended special thanks to Midvaal Events, Anthony Bruno of Meyerton Fire and Rescue Services, Melody van Aardt, MMC Chante Gomez, Councillor Lesley Visser, walk leader Gary Tuchmann, COMPOL members and the many volunteers who helped ensure a safe and memorable day.

Glyn also expressed gratitude to every resident, volunteer and sponsor who helped make the Youth Day Charity Walk a fitting celebration of South Africa’s youth and a meaningful investment in the future of the next generation.

The day served as a reminder that through partnership, compassion and community spirit, local communities can create lasting hope and change for young people.
