Search continues for missing Naledi
More than a month after 20-year-old Naledi Destiny Zwane disappeared, Meyerton SAPS has intensified efforts to find her, deploying police officers, search and rescue teams, security companies and community policing structures in a coordinated search operation.
The operation, led by Cpt Motaung on 7 July, started at Naledi’s family home in Three Rivers before moving to the nearby river and surrounding areas. Search and Rescue teams, private security companies, CPF members and K9 units joined the operation.
Naledi was last seen on 9 June at the Meyerton Licence Department, where she was due to write her learner’s licence test. Police said she never arrived for the appointment, with her last known contact recorded via WhatsApp at 12:48pm.
Despite weeks of investigations and search efforts, Naledi remains missing.
Meyerton Station Commander Col Senzangakona Christopher Mohale said police remain committed to finding her.
“We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to ensure her safe return,” he said.
Mohale said the case also highlights the ongoing concern over gender-based violence and femicide, urging communities to assist police with information that could help locate Naledi.
Police have appealed to anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact Meyerton SAPS or the nearest police station. Investigations are continuing.
