Meyerton SAPS intensifies liquor compliance inspections
Meyerton SAPS conducted a liquor compliance operation on July 14 as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and ensure businesses comply with liquor legislation.
The operation was led by Meyerton Operational Commander Captain Mthimkulu and Designated Liquor Officer Warrant Officer Kuni.
Police inspected five licensed liquor outlets to ensure they continued complying with liquor regulations. Officers also visited one premises previously identified as unlicensed and confirmed it was no longer operating following its closure.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of four suspects for possession of drugs. Police confiscated quantities of mandrax tablets and crystal methamphetamine and opened four criminal cases.
Meyerton SAPS Communication Officer Constable Nompumelelo Zazini said liquor compliance operations play an important role in reducing crime.
“These inspections are conducted to ensure licensed establishments comply with the law and to address illegal liquor trading. They also contribute to reducing alcohol-related crime while ensuring safer communities for everyone,” said Zazini.
During the operation, officers searched 35 people, four vehicles and one premises as part of ongoing crime prevention efforts.
