MEC strengthens rehabilitation drive during Freedom Recovery Centre visit
Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, conducted an oversight visit to Freedom Recovery Centre in Holgatfontein on August 4 as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen rehabilitation services and improve service delivery.
The visit provided the MEC with an opportunity to engage with the facility’s management and staff, while assessing the programmes and support offered to individuals recovering from substance abuse.
“Today I conducted an oversight visit at Freedom Recovery Centre as part of strengthening rehabilitation efforts to improve service delivery. This centre is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to individuals struggling with drug addiction, guiding them towards lasting recovery through personalised treatment plans, evidence-based therapies and ongoing support, empowering each individual to reclaim their health, happiness and purposeful lives,” said Nkomo-Ralehoko.
Freedom Recovery Centre is guided by the philosophy of “loving people back to life,” providing a supportive environment where individuals receive professional care throughout their recovery journey.
The centre uses a range of evidence-based treatment models, including pharmacotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), psychotherapy through individual and group counselling sessions, as well as the internationally recognised 12-Step Recovery Programme.
The Gauteng Department of Social Development said strengthening rehabilitation services remains a key priority in ensuring that people living with substance use disorders receive the care, treatment and support they need to rebuild healthy and productive lives.
