MADMAC draws more than 2,800 runners to Midvaal

More than 2,800 athletes descended on Midvaal for the annual MADMAC race, reinforcing the event’s growing reputation while providing a welcome boost for the local economy.

Midvaal Local Municipality partnered with Meyerton Athletics Club to host the race at Café du Cirque in Daleside on Sunday, 4 October. Runners from South Africa and beyond competed in the 42.2km marathon, 22km, 11km and 5km events.

Participants and supporters praised the area’s cleanliness, scenery and terrain, while law-enforcement officers patrolled the route to help keep runners safe.

Midvaal Executive Mayor Ald Peter Teixeira highlighted the wider value of hosting events that attract visitors to the municipality.

“When visitors come to our beautiful region, they boost local businesses, which benefit from increased revenue through higher foot traffic,” Teixeira said.

The municipality congratulated Meyerton Athletics Club and local sponsors for organising the event and expressed hope that MADMAC will continue growing.
