Businesses and community stakeholders gathered at Meyerton Golf Course for the second Mayoral Charity Golf Day, hosted by Midvaal Local Municipality to raise funds for local charities.
Building on last year’s inaugural event, the initiative aims to support vulnerable residents while strengthening partnerships between businesses, government and community organisations.
The event received support from several organisations, including Nedbank, Heineken Beverages, Standard Bank, Pick n Pay Meyerton, Lifeline and the Midvaal Chambers of Commerce, among others.
Proceeds will benefit Ikwezi Lokusa, a care home in De Deur that provides accommodation and care for adult men living with mental health conditions, as well as other local charities.
The initiative comes ahead of Movember, a global campaign raising awareness about men’s health, mental health and suicide prevention.
Midvaal Executive Mayor Alderman Peter Teixeira emphasised the importance of community partnerships.
“The Mayoral Charity Golf Day is more than a sporting event; it is an opportunity for businesses, stakeholders and the broader Midvaal community to unite in support of a meaningful cause,” read the remarks issued on his behalf.
The event highlights the importance of collaboration between local government and the private sector in addressing social challenges and supporting vulnerable communities.
The total amount raised has not been disclosed.
