Woman abducted by armed suspects in Meyerton
A 49-year-old woman was kidnapped during a violent car hijacking in Meyerton Park on Thursday, 7 May.
According to information received, the incident occurred at about 5:30 pm at a residence in Ysbeer Road, Meyerton Park, when the victim, identified as Mapuleng Kwezi, was dropping off her uncle.
It is alleged that shortly after parking her white Haval Jolion, valued at approximately R415 000, five armed African male suspects approached the vehicle. The suspects, reportedly armed with pistols, pointed firearms at the complainant and instructed her to get back into the passenger seat.
The victim allegedly noticed that the suspects were travelling in a white Toyota Corolla sedan with an unknown registration number. During the terrifying ordeal, she reportedly lost sight of her uncle and was unsure of what had happened to him at the scene.
The suspects then allegedly drove off with the complainant inside her own vehicle, kidnapping her during the hijacking.
Police later found the complainant together with her vehicle at Chris Hani Mall in Vosloorus. Fortunately, she was not injured during the incident.
Two cellphones and the vehicle keys were reportedly stolen.
A case was initially opened at Vosloorus Police Station before being transferred to Meyerton Police Station for further investigation.
No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations are ongoing.
