Henley on Klip couple found dead, inquest opened
Meyerton SAPS has opened an inquest after Michael Paulsens, 49, and Tannith Paulsen, 33, were found dead with gunshot wounds at a Henley on Klip home on Monday, 31 August.
Police were dispatched to a property in Nunham Street at about 14:30 following a complaint.
According to Meyerton SAPS Station Commander Colonel Senzangakona Christopher Mohale, responding officers found the man and woman lying on a blanket on the stoep.
Paulsens had sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his head, while Paulsen had a gunshot wound to the right side of her head. Both were declared dead at the scene by Community Emergency Response Team paramedic Cecil Parsons.
Police said a 9mm pistol and ear protection were found at the scene. A handwritten note was also discovered on the door of the house, containing instructions for the care of the couple’s dogs and an apology for the trouble caused.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation, and police have not yet established a motive.
