Police seek person of interest in rape investigation involving 15-year-old girlThe Vereeniging Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is appealing for public assistance in identifying a person of interest who police believe may be able to assist with an investigation into the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in Sky City.

According to a statement issued by the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, the incident allegedly occurred in Sky City on 13 August 2026.

Police have released a photograph of the person they are seeking to identify and are asking anyone who recognises the individual or has information about their whereabouts to come forward.

SAPS has described the individual as a “person of interest” who may be able to assist investigators with the case. Police have not stated that the person has been charged or identified them as a suspect.

The investigation is being handled by the Vereeniging FCS Unit, which deals with cases involving family violence, crimes against children and sexual offences.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation can contact investigating officer Constable Brummer on 073 079 1467.

Members of the public are urged to provide information directly to police rather than attempting to confront or apprehend the person themselves.

The investigation remains ongoing.
