Service delivery blitz tackles maintenance needs in Risiville
Municipal teams descended on Risiville this week as Midvaal Local Municipality continued its Blitz Service Delivery programme aimed at tackling maintenance concerns directly within communities.
Teams carried out several activities in the area on Thursday, August 27, including road painting, grass cutting, tree trimming and road maintenance.
The programme brings different municipal departments into one area simultaneously to address service backlogs and community concerns in a coordinated operation. Midvaal has previously used the approach in communities including Walkerville, Homestead Apple Orchards, De Deur, Mooilande and Daleside.
Midvaal Executive Mayor Ald Peter Teixeira said the initiative was about maintaining communities while ensuring municipal services remain visible and responsive.
“By working directly in communities, we are able to respond faster to service delivery needs, engage with residents and ensure our neighbourhoods remain clean, safe and well maintained,” Teixeira said.
The Risiville operation comes as the municipality continues to focus on road and public-space maintenance alongside other service delivery priorities.
Midvaal recently reported achieving 72 of its 76 Key Performance Indicators for the 2025/26 financial year, translating to an overall performance rate of 94.74%.
The municipality said its Blitz Service Delivery programme is intended to create a more visible impact by concentrating different departments and resources in a particular community rather than addressing maintenance matters individually.
