Taxi association member shot dead at Evaton Mall Taxi Rank
A member of the Evaton West Taxi Association, Mr Mkhize, was shot and killed at Evaton Mall Taxi Rank this morning. Emergency services declared him dead at the scene.
The fatal shooting occurred just hours before Mkhize was due to attend the memorial service of the association’s chairperson, Mr Mphuthi, who was gunned down on 27 March. The memorial was scheduled for 1 pm today.
The two killings, less than a week apart and involving members of the same association, have intensified concern over safety and stability within the local taxi industry.
While details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, the incident has sent shockwaves through the Evaton community, particularly among taxi operators and commuters who frequent the mall.
Police have yet to confirm a motive or announce any arrests. Investigations are ongoin
