Meyerton SAPS intensifies crime prevention operation

Meyerton SAPS carried out a Sector Commander and Social Crime Prevention operation on 26 May, aimed at strengthening visibility and enforcing compliance in identified hotspots.

The operation, led by Overall Commander Cpt Tsotetsi and Operational Commander, W/O Kuni, included a deployment of one officer, seven members, three vehicles, and six Siyabangena members. A parade was conducted before teams were dispatched to various operational points.

Law enforcement activities included a roadblock, railway safety monitoring, stop-and-search operations, second-hand goods inspections, and general crime prevention visibility. Officers also conducted passport and documentation checks, alongside inspections at liquor premises, second-hand dealers, and multiple community sites.

Visibility operations extended to filling stations, schools, shopping centres, spaza shops, funeral parlours, health facilities, government offices, pension paypoints, post offices, railway stations, vacant premises, and other identified hotspots.

Meyerton SAPS Communication Office, Cst Nompumelelo Zazini, told Walkerville & Savanna City Times: “Officers conducted 45 person searches, 28 vehicle searches, and three suspect searches. Authorities also issued 11 traffic fines amounting to R7 300, and recorded SAPS 13 recoveries including illicit cigarettes and illicit creams.”

Meyerton SAPS noted that the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and improve community safety through visibility and enforcement.
