This week, Walkerville & Savanna City Times Weekly Snapshot Issue 11 brings readers a mix of community development, healthcare, safety and Women’s Month stories from across Midvaal and surrounding communities.

A major development for Savanna City is the R49 million investment in electricity infrastructure, aimed at strengthening power capacity and supporting future growth. Beyond improving infrastructure, the project has also created employment opportunities and opened doors for local SMMEs to participate in the development.

Healthcare also came closer to residents through the Siyabaphilisa outreach in Mamello, giving community members easier access to screenings, testing and medical support. The initiative highlights the importance of bringing essential healthcare services directly to communities.

In Vaal Marina, survivors, advocates and residents came together to raise awareness around gender-based violence and strengthen support for those affected. The initiative encouraged communities to stand together and create safer spaces where survivors can feel heard and protected.

Women in law enforcement were also celebrated as Meyerton SAPS honoured its women in blue with a special Women’s Month breakfast, recognising their dedication, commitment and service to their communities.

As Women’s Month continues, the edition also encourages women doing extraordinary work in their communities to share their stories and receive the recognition they deserve.
