“Dealing with savage murder of a young kind person is torture,” Walkerville’s Buys family seeks justice

“Dealing with death and grief is hard on its own but having to also deal with such a young, kind person being murdered in such a savage way is torture,” said dejected Walkervillean Candice Buys Hutchinson whose 19-year-old brother, Vaughan Buys was brutally murdered at their home in Walkerville Manor on 23 September 2022.

The Buys family continues to seek justice for Vaughan’s murder and is offering a reward to anyone who might provide information about the incident or suspects so that they can finally get closure.

“We are desperate to find answers and get some kind of justice for my brother. He never harmed a soul, he was a kind, gentle young man with so many goals and aspirations,” added Candice.

On the fateful day, the unknown armed suspects broke into the Buys’ home at around 1.40am and fatally shot Vaughan twice in close range just as he was stepping out of bed.

“The shots went through his chest and lower right abdomen. He never had a chance to scream, react or even defend himself! The other suspect stood staring at my mom, they never threatened or said anything, she never saw much and only recalls that one was a small short built person,” Candice narrated the ordeal.  

The suspects fled the scene only taking Vaughan’s wallet which contained his bank and ID cards.
