More than 300 arrested for various offences in Sedibeng
Three hundred and ninety seven suspects were arrested in the Sedibeng District for various types of offences over the past week.
This comes amidst efforts to curb criminal activities in the area and the weekly instalment of ‘O Kae Molao’ multidisciplinary joint operation executed by various stakeholders such as JMPD, Emfuleni, Midvaal and Gauteng Traffic, Gauteng Department of Community Safety, Department of Correctional Services, CPF Patrollers, Community in Blue – Siyabangena Patrollers and the Department of Home Afffairs yielded positive results.
SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Shaan Motsapi said: “Suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, rape, attempted rape, assault, malicious damage to property, possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle, possession of suspected stolen property, warrant of arrest, armed robbery, theft, shoplifting, drinking and driving, dealing in drugs, dealing in liquor without a license, illegal immigration, house breaking and theft.”
The Sedibeng Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Abbey Nkhwashu, applauded members for making all the arrests saying: “Members continue to show dedication and willingness to address the scourge of crime in the Sedibeng District. I thank everyone for their efforts and dedication in preventing crime and encourage them to do more.”
All arrested suspects will soon appear at different Magistrates Courts in the Sedibeng District.
