Midvaal expands fleet to boost service delivery

Midvaal Local Municipality has taken a significant step to enhance service delivery with the recent unveiling of 15 new vehicles, purchased at a cost of over R11 million aimed at improving response times and operational efficiency across various municipal departments.

The newly acquired fleet includes two cherry pickers, costing R3 million, which will enhance streetlight repairs and tree maintenance efforts. Additionally, six bakkies have been procured to facilitate site visits, assist health inspectors, and support water-related service delivery.

To extend library services to more communities, a mobile truck has also been introduced. Furthermore, a bull skid steer will assist with street sweeping in the Central Business District (CBD), while a steam roller will support road maintenance projects.

With these additions, Midvaal’s total fleet now stands at 268 vehicles, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to improving service delivery.

Executive Mayor Cllr. Peter Teixeira said: “We are continuously investing in our fleet to ensure we meet our service delivery mandates effectively. These new vehicles will allow us to respond faster to community needs, ensuring better infrastructure maintenance and improved municipal services.”
