6 killed, 18 injured in Meyerton shooting, 3 suspects arrested

Three suspects have been arrested following a shooting incident at R59 road Meyerton on Tuesday,03 February.

It is reported that a taxi was travelling from Johannesburg towards Free State when a Nissan Juke with three unknown suspects bumped and opened fire, causing it to overturn. The Nissan Juke, reported stolen at Witbank in September 2025, lost control. Six passengers were fatally wounded, and 18 victims were injured and receiving medical treatment.

The suspects hijacked a motor vehicle at Johan Le Roux road and fled, but were tracked down and arrested at Valley Settlement, Kliprivier, in a collaborative effort between K9, Public Order Policing, Kliprivier Vispol, Midvaal traffic department, Midvaal peace officers, and private securities.

Police have opened six counts of murder, 18 counts of attempted murder, carjacking, and possession of a hijacked vehicle. Police investigation continues.

All suspects will appear before the Magistrate court soon.
