Midvaal hosts Mayoral Student Financial Aid beneficiaries
Earlier today, Midvaal Local Municipality hosted twenty-nine recipients of the Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme at its offices in Meyerton.
The programme which was launched in January 2024 to provide support to those pursuing higher education qualifications was allocated R750,000 by the municipality.
Following the vast number of applications received and a thorough review process, twenty nine (29) students were approved and received varying forms of assistance, including tuition, registration fees and other essential study resources such as laptops and books.
The Mayoral Student Financial Aid is a result of the Buang Batjha campaign, during which the municipality engaged with young people across all 15 Wards to discuss the challenges they faced and the solutions they proposed.
Midvaal Executive Mayor, Ald Peter Teixeira said: “The Mayoral Student Financial Aid reaffirms our commitment to fulfilling the Mayoral undertaking of creating opportunities for all. It also demonstrates our proactive efforts to realise the promises we made to the residents of Midvaal.”
