Midvaal opens newly tarred roads in Meyerton Farms

Midvaal Local Municipality officially opened two newly constructed gravel-to-tar road projects in Meyerton Farms reinforcing it’s commitment to infrastructure development.

The roads: Alma Road and Njala Street-were upgraded from gravel to tar at a total cost of over R9 million.
The scope of work included the layer works, surfacing, kerbing, road signs and road markings. Both projects were completed within budget and ahead of schedule. These road projects were identified in the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) as a priority to address the community’s developmental needs.

“We are proud to have fulfilled this IDP commitment. As part of our empowerment efforts, eleven (11) SMMEs were contracted in both wards and fourteen (14) local labourers were employed for the project. The newly tarred roads will significantly improve the daily lives of our residents, ensuring safer and more convenient travel. The municipality is moving forward with its plans to convert gravel roads to tar across our areas and communities. The municipality is also currently working on a gravel-to-tar project in Highbury on the following streets: Bloubok Road, Takbok Road, and Steenbok Road. We are leveraging our resources to extend road infrastructure to as many communities as possible.
Midvaal remains committed to delivering excellent service and will continue investing in infrastructure development to ensure residents can travel safely and easily,” said Midvaal Municipality.
