Midvaal named overall winner at SALGA Awards Once Again

Midvaal Local Municipality has once again been recognised for excellence, being named the Overall Winner at the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Awards for the 2024/2025 financial year. The municipality also walked away with seven awards across multiple categories, reinforcing its reputation as one of the country’s top-performing municipalities.

The awards reflect strong performance in key areas of governance and service delivery, including payment of service providers within 30 days, performance achievement above 80%, and full (100%) achievement in grants for service delivery. Midvaal also received recognition for the effective implementation of audit action plans and achieved a clean audit opinion for the 2024/2025 financial year.

In addition, the municipality was named 1st runner-up in Environmental Management and Climate Change, highlighting its growing focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Midvaal says these achievements are the result of consistent dedication from municipal officials, councillors, and the support of residents. The municipality added that the awards reflect what can be achieved through teamwork, accountability, and a shared commitment to service delivery excellence.

With this latest recognition, Midvaal continues to position itself as a benchmark for good governance and effective local government in South Africa.
