NCAW Winter Youth Games promoted fitness and health awareness

June 22, 2026

Young people came together for the NCAW Winter Youth Games 2026, held on 19 June at Emplisweni Soccer Grounds, Sebokeng Zone 7.

The event ran from 7:30pm to 3pm under the theme “Get Active, Stay Healthy, Have Fun” and brought youth together through sport, recreation and free health services.

Activities on the day included a fun walk, fun run/marathon, aerobics, netball and basketball. The programme encouraged young people to take part in physical activity while enjoying a safe and positive community event.

Organisers said the games were about more than sport.

“The aim was to create a space where young people could have fun, stay active and also access important health information and services,” one of the organisers said.

Free health services were also made available, including PrEP services, HIV testing services, family planning, health screening and health education.

The event attracted youth, families and community members who came out to support healthy living and positive youth development.

Organisers thanked everyone who participated and supported the initiative, saying the event showed the importance of using sport and health awareness to empower young people.
