Runners take on Vaal River City Marathon
The streets of Vanderbijlpark came alive with runners on Sunday, 13 September, as the eighth Rand Water Vaal River City Marathon put endurance, fitness and determination to the test.
The event featured a 42.2km marathon, 21.1km half marathon, 10km race and 5km fun run, giving participants of different fitness levels an opportunity to challenge themselves across the various distances.
Among the participants were members of the Gauteng Social Development Athletics Club, who represented the department across the race categories.
The marathon also provided a platform to promote healthier lifestyles and physical fitness while bringing runners together through sport.
For many participants, the event was not only about finishing times, but also about setting personal goals, testing their endurance and embracing an active lifestyle.
The Gauteng Social Development Athletics Club said its participation was aimed at promoting health and wellness, building team spirit and encouraging employees to remain active.
The Rand Water Vaal River City Marathon continues to bring runners to the Sedibeng region, with Vanderbijlpark hosting athletes across a range of race distances.
