Farmers, agricultural stakeholders and community members gathered at Mitchell Park in Meyerton on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, for the Midvaal Agricultural Information Day and Exhibition, an initiative aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector and creating opportunities for local farmers.
Hosted by Midvaal Local Municipality’s Local Economic Development Section, the event provided a platform for sharing agricultural knowledge, exploring farming opportunities and connecting stakeholders within the industry.
Held under the theme *Building a Resilient, Competitive and Inclusive Agricultural Sector through Knowledge, Innovation and Market Access*, the exhibition focused on the importance of equipping farmers with information and resources to help them grow sustainable agricultural businesses.
Key discussion areas included preparations for the planting season, the impact of El Niño on crops and livestock, agricultural financing, insurance and access to markets.
The event also highlighted the role of innovation, collaboration and knowledge-sharing in building a more resilient agricultural sector, particularly for emerging farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs who face challenges accessing resources and markets.
By bringing together agricultural stakeholders and community members, the information day created an opportunity for networking, exchanging ideas and exploring ways to strengthen local agricultural development.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to support inclusive economic participation and ensure that agriculture continues to contribute to livelihoods, food security and economic growth in Midvaal.
