September 11, 2026

Strong performance in crime prevention, service delivery and community safety has earned Meyerton SAPS the Sedibeng District Station of the Year title for the 2025/2026 financial year.

The award was presented during the Sedibeng District Excellence Awards held on Friday, 4 September 2026, at Lapeng Conference Centre under the leadership of District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Mukhwevho.

Meyerton SAPS emerged from 14 police stations in the Sedibeng District to receive the top station award.

According to a statement issued on behalf of Meyerton Station Commander Colonel Senzangakona Christopher Mohale, the recognition reflects the station’s leadership, teamwork, professionalism and commitment to serving the community.

The station also celebrated recognition in the Detective of the Year category for the 2025/2026 financial year.

The detective accolade recognised investigative excellence, dedication to justice and contributions towards successful crime detection and investigations in the district.

Meyerton SAPS said partnerships with other safety structures remain an important part of its crime-prevention efforts.

Security companies were also recognised during the awards for their role in maintaining safety and security during the planned national shutdown linked to anti-foreign sentiment from 28 June to 3 July 2026.

Their vigilance and professionalism were acknowledged as important contributions to maintaining stability and supporting policing efforts across Sedibeng.

“As Meyerton SAPS, we remain committed to combating and preventing crime around Meyerton and to building safer communities,” the station said.

The awards highlighted the role of cooperation between police, detectives, private security companies and other safety structures in strengthening community safety across the Sedibeng District.
