Meyerton SAPS strengthens community relations through Sport Against Crime – EHR79 Cup

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Meyerton, under Sedibeng District, successfully hosted the “Sport Against Crime” Provincial Final Shutdown Tournament – EHR79 Cup at Hoërskool Dr Malan on 8 November.

This initiative aims to promote unity among churches while strengthening spiritual-based crime prevention efforts within the community. Through sport and partnership, Meyerton SAPS continues to create platforms that encourage trust, collaboration, and active participation between police and the public.

Alongside the tournament, a Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) awareness campaign was also conducted. The campaign focused on educating and empowering community members on prevention, reporting channels and available support resources.

Meyerton SAPS communication officer, Nompumelelo Zazini, emphasized that SAPS Meyerton remains committed to hosting activities that promote community engagement, rebuild relationships, and unite stakeholders in the fight for a safer and crime-free society.
