Meyerton SAPS brings hope through GBV healing tea event
Community partners came together on 12 December as Meyerton SAPS’ GBV Coordinator, Social Crime Prevention team, Vispol Commander, FCS Unit, Lifeline, Midvaal Traffic, GBV Brigades and Agape hosted a healing tea session for Gender-Based Violence victims from the Sicelo community.
Guests arrived dressed in beautiful vintage outfits, adding a touch of joy and nostalgia to the day. Over a warm cup of tea, women were encouraged to share their experiences and express themselves freely in the presence of supportive stakeholders. The gathering aimed to reach victims who often feel isolated, reminding them that they are not alone and that there is life after abuse.
Moments of prayer and a heartfelt poem from one of the partners brought comfort and inspiration to the attendees. Each guest received a special gift as a token of appreciation for their courage and for spending the day with the organising teams. In total, around 50 GBV victims were reached through this powerful and uplifting engagement.
