Savanna City Football Academy is working to turn its fortunes around after opening its campaign with two defeats, with the team already preparing for its next challenge on 28 November 2026.

The academy’s opening match ended in a narrow 3-2 defeat against Remember Elite Soccer Academy (RESA) at Vereeniging Stadium. Its second outing proved equally challenging, with Savanna City Football Academy going down 4-1 against Vanderbijlpark-based Metro Stars at Lakeside Sports Centre, which will serve as one of the academy’s home grounds this season.

Despite the disappointing results, coach Simo Masilela believes the two encounters have provided valuable lessons that the players can use to improve as the campaign progresses. The team has since started preparations for its upcoming fixture against Town Stars FC, scheduled for 28 November at George Thabe Stadium in Sharpeville.

With training under way, the players are looking to put the opening results behind them, rebuild their confidence and approach their next challenge with renewed determination. For Savanna City Football Academy, the focus is now on growth, consistency and giving its supporters something to celebrate as the season unfolds.
