Blitz Service Delivery tackles community needs in Drumblade

Residents saw municipal service delivery in action on 16 July as the Midvaal Local Municipality’s Mayoral Committee rolled out its Blitz Service Delivery Thursday programme, with teams working across the area to improve public spaces and address community needs.

The operation, which began at 09:00am, brought together officials from various municipal departments to carry out grass cutting, roadside maintenance, cleaning and other service delivery interventions aimed at improving the neighbourhood.

“Blitz Service Delivery Thursdays are about bringing the municipality closer to our residents. By working directly in communities, we are able to respond faster to service delivery needs, engage with residents and ensure our neighbourhoods remain clean, safe and well maintained,” said Midvaal Executive Mayor Peter Teixeira.

The initiative forms part of the municipality’s ongoing drive to accelerate service delivery by deploying multiple departments to one community at a time, while giving residents an opportunity to engage directly with officials and raise service delivery concerns.

Community members were encouraged to interact with municipal teams, report service delivery issues and witness the work being carried out throughout the day.

The municipality said the Blitz Service Delivery Thursday programme will continue rotating through communities across Midvaal as part of its “Excellence in Progress” initiative, aimed at delivering efficient, responsive and visible municipal services.
