Mayoral Financial Aid to open doors for students in Midvaal, applications close 23 January

Midvaal Local Municipality has officially opened applications for its Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme, continuing its commitment to supporting students pursuing higher education.

Launched in 2024, the programme is now in its third year and aims to ease the financial pressures faced by deserving students. The fund provides assistance with tuition and registration fees, as well as essential study resources such as laptops and textbooks, enabling students to focus on their academic goals.

Since its inception, the Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme has made a significant impact, with more than R1.5 million disbursed to date. Over 57 students have benefited from the initiative, receiving much-needed support to continue and complete their studies.

In response to the ongoing high demand for financial assistance, the municipality has allocated a further R750 000 for the current academic year. This allocation reflects Midvaal’s continued commitment to creating opportunities for all and investing in the development of young people within the community.

Municipal officials say the programme plays a crucial role in reducing financial barriers to education and empowering students to contribute meaningfully to society once they complete their qualifications.

Applications for the Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme are now open and will close on 23 January 2026. Eligible students are encouraged to apply.
